3 Ways to Celebrate International Project Management Day
Every year on the 1st Thursday of November there are an estimated 15 to 20 million project managers or people working on projects worldwide that should be celebrated!
International Project Management (IPM) Day, created in 2004, is intended to encourage project-based organizations worldwide (or organizations who utilize project management methodologies) to schedule some type of recognition event within their organization. It doesn’t matter what part of the world you are in, or the size of your team or company.
Here are 3 great ways to celebrate this important day
1. Random Act of PM Kindness. Perform a random Act of Kindness. Buy a cup of coffee for a Project Manager or a project teammate. If your colleague is located remotely, why not show your appreciation via email. Email them and let them know you appreciate them. You can even send them a cup of coffee with an eGift Card. One of my favorites to use is Starbucks eGift Card – the gift that keeps on giving!
2.IPM Event. Treat yourself to an IPM Event today! There are many live virtual conferences like the International Project Management Day 2015 Conference on Ensuring a Sustainable Future.
3.Volunteer. Become a PMI (Project Management Institute) volunteer. Volunteer while building a professional network, share your skills and experiences, and develop as a leader. Sign up to be a Mentor with your local PMI Chapter www.PMI.org.
What ways (both big and small) will you celebrate this important day? What individual and team activities do you have planned? What ideas can you share with others looking to enjoy this day devoted to the PM community?
